5G can be highly capable in areas with strong deployment, but nationwide mobile connectivity does not depend on 5G alone. LTE continues to provide broad coverage while operators expand newer networks.
A Strong LTE Connection Can Beat Weak 5G

A 5G icon does not automatically mean faster internet.
Suppose you are in a location where 5G coverage is weak while LTE is strong. Your phone might display 5G, yet webpages load slowly and video buffers.

The same principle applies to people who spend most of their day connected to Wi-Fi. If mobile data is mainly a backup connection, the extra performance of 5G may not justify paying more.
Don’t Upgrade Just Because Your Phone Supports 5G
5G compatibility is a feature, not an obligation.
If your current phone supports LTE reliably and your mobile experience is smooth, you do not automatically need a new device.
When you eventually replace your phone, choosing a 5G-compatible model can provide more flexibility for the future. But there is a difference between future-proofing your next purchase and urgently replacing a perfectly functional LTE device.
What About Battery Life?
Battery consumption is another reason some users hesitate about 5G.

That means switching permanently to LTE is not automatically the best battery-saving solution.

GSMA’s latest Philippine assessment specifically highlights the need for additional spectrum and continued work to achieve more ubiquitous, high-quality 5G coverage.
So, should you get 5G yet?
Get it if your usage can take advantage of it and your regular locations have strong coverage. Stay with LTE if it already does everything you need.
The best mobile network is not necessarily the newest one. It is the one that gives you reliable performance where you actually use your phone, at a price that makes sense for your routine.
